C0599 OBD Code

OBD/2 C0599 error code description and symptoms.

Vehicle speed data is received from either the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), transfer case speed sensor (TCSS), anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module, generic electronic module (GEM), or central timer module (CTM). This DTC is set the same way as C0599. However, it is intended to flash the transmission control indicator lamp (TCIL) for first time VSS circuit error/malfunctions. Some systems require that the actuator has an adequate supply of brake fluid. Low brake fluid levels can mimic the symptoms of code C0599, so consult the manual to locate the brake fluid reservoir. If your vehicle failed a C0599 test and the C0599 Check Engine Light is NOT on, chances are you have a problem with the OBDII system, a burned out MIL lamp, or a faulty catalytic converter. The OBDII system uses front crash sensor driver communications fault a ownstream oxygen sensor to monitor the efficiency of the converter, and it should detect a drop in converter efficiency if the converter has been contaminated or is failing (ignition misfiring, leaky exhaust valves, and oil burning can all damage the converter). What you want to look front crash sensor driver communications fault: Any conditions that might cause ignition misfire, an overly rich or lean fuel condition, or loss of compression.
